By accessing or using BestCarRank (“the Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Description of Service

BestCarRank provides vehicle reliability rankings, complaint data, safety ratings, recall information, and fuel economy data sourced from public government databases (NHTSA, EPA). We also offer a free VIN lookup tool that queries public NHTSA APIs on your behalf.

3. Not Professional Advice

The information on BestCarRank is for informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for a professional pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data presented. Always conduct your own research and inspections before purchasing a vehicle.

4. Data Sources & Accuracy

Our data comes from publicly available government sources including the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Complaint data reflects individual consumer reports and may not represent all vehicles of a given make, model, or year. Safety ratings are from government crash tests. We present this data as-is and make no warranties about its completeness.

5. VIN Lookup

Our free VIN tool queries public NHTSA APIs in real-time. We do not store VIN numbers entered into our tool. Results are provided directly from government databases. For full vehicle history reports (accidents, title history, odometer), third-party services are required.

6. Embeddable Content

Charts and data visualizations from BestCarRank may be embedded on third-party websites using our embed feature, provided that attribution to BestCarRank with a visible link back to bestcarrank.com is maintained.

7. Intellectual Property

While the underlying government data is public domain, our analysis, rankings, scoring methodology, verdicts, website design, and original content are protected by copyright. You may not scrape, reproduce, or redistribute our processed data or rankings without permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

BestCarRank shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use of or inability to use the Site, including but not limited to decisions made based on our data. Vehicle purchases should always be accompanied by professional inspection.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
